1914 Fowler 'B6' 8 nhp Road Locomotive - Lion

This engine is one of sixteen built for the war department. It was worked during the First World War. In 1919 it was sold on to London traction haulage who were later taken over by Pickford's. Lion became their first heavy haulage engine.
Following the acquisition of Norman E Box in 1930, Lion was sold to Walter Denton of Hyde, Cheshire, with whom it remained until 1994.
You can't tell from the picture below, but Peter's engine was actually sinking in the mud.
