1919 McLaren 10 NHP 14 ton Road Locomotive - Boadcea
Works No. 1652 - Reg. No.WF 1864
This engine is one of 55 that McLarens made for the War department to pull 49mm guns. It was never exported; instead it was used for heavy haulage until purchased by showman Edwin Corrigan of Yorkshire. It was sent back to the works and was converted to full showman's specification and was named Gigantic. But it was found to be too heavy for show work and was sold onto Shaw and Gaskell of Hull for hauling large boilers. It went on to be used for fenland dredging in East Anglia and was laid up in 1958. Mr Steve Neville then purchased it for the sum of £80. He then lit a fire in it and drove it 80 miles to his home in Saffron Walden Essex.
